40 Beauty Questions: Reloaded

Source
Hello, dear readers,

I have a new night time skincare routine [morning hasn't changed] and foundation routine coming up soon, and I'm also long overdue for a review on the Fusion of Color powder products. Because I want to take pictures for my foundation routine, I have to do it when I'm actually wearing makeup for a "Before" and "After." I literally just started my new skincare routine last night, so I'm in no position to share it with you. I can't exactly tell you anything until I get some results, positive or negative. For today, then, I'm doing a tag that I did back in September 2011, so we can both see how different the answers are. Considering September was less than a year ago, they'll be extremely similar, but I want to do it anyway!

Here we go:

SKINCARE
 -
How many times do you wash your face daily?

Twice. I'll use Olay Cleansing Cloths Sensitive to take off makeup after walking home from school, but I'm not counting that as fully washing my face.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
Combination and somewhat sensitive [oily nose and chin, normal to dry forehead and cheeks]. Fun fact: I tend to be allergic to products like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, while retinoids don't really bother me at all. It's the opposite to most people's reactions.

What is your current facial wash?

Olay Foaming Face Wash Sensitive Skin

Do you exfoliate?
Yes, weekly.

What brand do you use?

I just use my regular face wash with baking soda. It's a great, gentle exfoliant.

What moisturizer do you use?

In the morning I use Olay Complete Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 Sensitive Skin; I use SPF 15 in the winter. At night, I use Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture Sensitive Skin. This has remained the same! Told you it wouldn't be that different.

Do you have freckles?

I have a few very faint freckles on my face, and a smattering on my arms. They tend to only be visible in the summer.

Do you use eye cream?
No. I do have a sample size of the Clinique Eye Roller serum, because it came as a gift with purchase. I use it when I'm particularly exhausted in the morning.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Yes. Oh, the joys of adult acne. Instead of just breaking out on my chin from hormones, I now break out there as well as on my cheeks and nose. I occasionally break out on my forehead, too! Thankfully, the breakouts aren't that noticeable, but that doesn't make them any less annoying.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No, and I don't think I would.

MAKE-UP
What foundation do you use?
Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup in the shade 01.

How about concealer?
Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer in Light. You may have noticed that I'm always the lightest shade, unless the lightest shade is too dark. Then I try a different line!

Do you know your undertone color?
I've been told by some people that my skin looks peachy. My undertone is mostly pink, with a little bit of yellow thrown in. However, yellow-toned foundations tend to look orange on me. I'm probably one of the few people that actually wants peach or pink-toned makeup.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
No. The only way they're acceptable is when they're natural enough that I can't tell you're wearing them. Sorry.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?

Yes.

What brand of mascara do you use?

When I do amuse myself by wearing mascara, I've used one of the Organic Physician's Formula mascaras, or a Clinique mascara. I can't remember the name, but it is not the High Impact Mascara. I'm the worst person for that particular makeup item, because it either bleeds below my eyes, or I rub my eyes right after putting it on. Am I the only one that feels weighed down by mascara?Sephora or MAC?
I shop at Ulta, because they have drugstore and higher-end brands. If I didn't, it would definitely be Sephora.

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
No.

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
A brush for powder; flat foundation brush or my fingers for foundation; just my fingers for concealer.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?

No because I don't wear eye makeup. I tend to put concealer on my eyelids, though, to neutralize the darkness and brighten the eye area. This is still true.

For the face?
Nope.

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?

Like I said, I don't wear eyeshadow. I do, however, like neutral colors on other people, or a lighter wash of any color. Bright eyeshadow is great on people who know how to use it. This probably doesn't answer the question.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I don't wear eyeliner, but I own both pencil and felt tip. Still true!

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?

The few times I have used it, I think I poked my eyes maybe once.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
They look harder to work with, and I imagine I would make a mess.

Do you use mineral makeup?

I do own makeup that considers itself mineral makeup. I say "considers," because pretty much all makeup contains minerals. You know those powders you buy? Plenty of them contain talc, which is, indeed, a mineral.

What is your favorite lipstick?

I've been loving my Revlon lipsticks lately, especially ColorBurst lipstick in Carnation for spring.

How about lipgloss?

I haven't worn it in a very long time, but Avon Glazewear lip glosses are probably my all-time favorites.

What is your favorite blush to use?
I own a couple of blushes, but 1) I'm rubbish at using it, and 2) I don't feel like I need it. I don't have a favorite

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
No.

Do you like drugstore makeup?
Yes. Every brand in any price range always has good and lousy products. There's always something to like.

Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)

No.

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
No.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

No, but I can occasionally put on too much if my lighting is dim. Then I leave my room and look in natural lighting and brush off as much as possible!

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Corpse lips, spider lashes, orange tans, and unblended eye shadow.

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?

I generally prefer bright lipstick and neutral eyes.

Which celebrity always has great make up?
Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, Rachel McAdams.

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Concealer.

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, and I often do when I'm walking to school and I know it will sweat off anyway.

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Everyone has good and bad days, but generally yes.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Like I said, every brand has fantastic products and terrible products. I can't choose a single brand that's great all around.

What do you think of makseup??

I think it's a fantastic way to minimize the appearance of imperfections so the focus is on your features. It's a nice confidence booster, too.

I guess that wasn't much of an update, was it? At least that didn't make it any less entertaining to fill out.

If you've done this tag, let me know so I can read it!

Have a splendid Saturday and Sunday!

Another Tag, You Say?

Yes, indeed, dear readers,

Today's post is another tag! I found this one on the ever-popular Elle and Blair website. This is the 32 Question Tag. Well, strictly speaking, it has 33 questions, so whoever titled it hopefully doesn't have a day job as an accountant or banker.

Here goes:

  • Is it cute when guys kiss you on your forehead? I suppose it's cute. Personally, though, I feel like I might get annoyed. That's just me, though.

  • A big poofy dress or a short party dress? Well I don't like wearing super short dresses, but I would definitely have more occasions to wear a short party dress than a big poofy dress.
  • Are diamonds a girl's best friend? Not to the extent that they replace friends, but yes, they are indeed a girl's best friend. This isn't to say that I wear them routinely. I'm not even sure I own any.
  • Is your hair up or down today? It's down. The only time it's not down is generally when I'm having a horrible hair day or when I'm working out.
  • Do you straighten your hair? Very rarely. I'll straighten it probably a few times a year, five or six at the most, I'd guess.
  • Favorite mascara? If you've read my blog before, you'll know that mascara is hardly a necessity in my life. It darkens my lashes a bit, but I haven't found one that actually makes it look like I'm wearing mascara. Nothing really makes a difference, but right now I have a sample of Clinique High Impact Mascara in black. Honestly, no mascara is my favorite at this point.
  • Do you get your nails done? I've only gotten my nails done once, and I really prefer doing it myself. Something about someone else cutting and filing my nails and painting them just really doesn't appeal to me at all. My polish always lasts longer when I paint it myself, anyway.
  • Small or large purses? I love all sizes, but personally I need a large one for all the junk I carry!
  • Jeans or sweats? Jeans. Sweats make me feel sloppy but are much more comfortable, so I only wear them when working out or going on a grocery run. Jeans make me feel much more put together.
  • Do you wear clothes/shoes/jewelry that's uncomfortable? Not generally. I mean my shoes are never comfortable after walking in them for a while, but they're comfy until then. So I suppose I do wear cute, uncomfortable shoes when it comes to actually walking long distances in them.
  • Do you text message a lot? I actually don't have texting [SHOCKER] I always call.
  • Whats your favorite color? Aqua is my main favorite, but also blues, greens, and pink.
  • Heels or flats? I love ballet flats. They just look so classy and are appropriate for more occasions, in my opinion. However, I do love the way heels make my legs look.
  • Would you ever leave the house without makeup on? Only if I'm going outside to work out or if I'm going on a trip to the grocery store. Otherwise, I have to wear at least some concealer and lipstick. And chances are I always go out with undereye concealer even if I wear nothing else, in order to avoid the crater look.
  • Walmart or Target? Target. Without a doubt. My best friend and I will actually go there as a destination and spend hours searching the store. We're exciting people.
  • Do you think lip gloss is the best!? I'm not as into wearing gloss as I used to be, so I actually think lipstick is the best, but lip gloss still holds a special place in my heart.
  • Do you own any big sunglasses? One really cheap and junky Coach imitation that I never wear. My good sunglasses are medium sized.
  • How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? Usually somewhere around an hour, but that's including the fact that it takes me 15 minutes to get out of bed, and I generally don't pick out my clothes the night before. If I do pick them out, it's just in my head and they aren't prepared. I also shower at night. Not surprising that I'm always running late.
  • Gold or silver? I really like both. Silver probably suits my skin tone better, but I'm so white that I can pull off both relatively well.
  • Do you like to wear dresses? Yes! I used to never wear them, and now I want to wear them all the time. Too bad I only own a few.
  • In the last 48 hours have you hung out with a guy? My brother!
  • Do you like to hold hands? Sure!
  • What do you notice when you first meet a guy? His eyes and smile, I suppose. I mean I obviously notice body type as well, but as far as things that attract my attention, that would be it on the immediate impression.
  • Do you like making eye contact? I love it! It's actually an inside joke with one of my best friends. I'm not going to bother explaining it. I do apologize.
  • Would you kill for chocolate? Not literally.
  • On a scale from 1-10 how fun is shopping? When I'm shopping for jeans or bras, or work pants it's a negative 10. If it's for fun, then a 10.
  • Do you yell a lot? Only to the elderly customers who can't hear me at work. Generally I just yell when I'm angry or to avoid being interrupted when I'm trying to prove a point.
  • Do you wear sweatpants/pajamas to school/work? Never.
  • Have you ever dressed unlike yourself to impress a guy? Nope.
  • What makeup could you not live without? Undereye concealer and lipstick.
  • Do you fall in love easily? Not at all.
  • Do you have cramps? Not right now. I don't get them too often.
  • Do you think you have the bestest friend ever? Yes indeed. I have a fabulous group of friends, and my best friends are the best!

  • Hope you enjoyed this little tag! I'd love to see any of you do it.

    Since I Should be Sleeping...

...I naturally decided to look for a survey to fill out. I think they're tons of fun to read, and they give you a bit more knowledge about the person whose blog you're reading, Facebook you're stalking, etc. Before we get to that,  I want to apologize for the weird inconsistencies in font size and color. I'm a bit technologically impaired, so I think it's best to warn you all that it will take me a while to figure out the format.

    But on to the survey

I found this "This or That??" survey here.

    Here goes:

This or That?? - Beauty Survey

    MAKEUP:
    blush or bronzer:
I'd choose blush, simply because I'm so pale that I think any bronzer would look ridiculously out of place.
lip gloss or lipstick Lipstick. I use formulas with a bit of natural shine/shimmer in them anyway, so it's easy to swipe and go.
    eye liner or mascara Mascara
    foundation or concealer Concealer
neutral or color eye shadow Neutral
pressed or loose eye shadows Pressed
    brushes or spon ges Brushes

    NAILS:
    OPI or china glaze OPI
Long or short Short, but not ridiculously so
    Acrylic or natural Natural
Brights or darks I like both, and I often use bright darks!
Flo wer or no fl ower no flower

    BODY:
perfume or bo dy splash body splash
lotion or bo dy butter body cream, which is probably closer to body butter
bo dy wash or soap body wash
lush or other bath company I've actually never bought from lush. SHOCK! HORROR! So, other bath company.

    FASHION:
jeans or sweat pants Jeans, but I've just recently bought sweat pants and they are wonderful for lounging around in my room when I've nowhere to go.
    long sleeve of short Short
    dresses or skirts Dresses
stripes or plaid I love both. I don't think I can choose.
flip flops or sandals Sandals, but I really don't wear either. I'm sort of a ballet-flats-year-round type person.
scarves or hats Again, I don't wear either of these but I do love scarves.
    studs or dangly earrings Dangly
    necklaces or bracelets Necklaces
heels or flats Flats, simply because that's what I live in in the warmer months, and I've yet to buy heels I really like.
cowboy boots or riding boots Riding boots
jacket or hoodie Those serve entirely different purposes to me, so I can't really answer this.
forever 21 or charlotte russe I love both of these, but I think I've had slightly more success at Forever 21.
abercombie or Hollister I don't shop at these stores.
    saks 5th or nordstrom Nordstrom

    HAIR:
curly or straight Well, personally I like to keep mine natural, so curly. But both are pretty.
bun or ponytail A bun is what I wear most often when my hair's not down.
bobby pins or butterfly clips hahahahaha. If you had asked me this 12 years ago, my answer would have been butterfly clips. As of now, it's bobby pins without a doubt.
hair spray or gel cream gel because it's less crunchy than either but provides light hold
    long or short Long
light or dark I prefer my hair dark. I've never colored it.
side sweep bangs or full bangs Side-swept
up or down Since I don't know any fancy or exciting updos, I'll have to go with down.

    RANDOM:
    Rain or shine shine
Summer or winter SUMMER! Is anyone else ready for winter to end? I am!
Fall or spring I do like both of these season, but I'd have to say spring because the weather is generally warmer
Chocolate or vanilla Chocolate for everything except ice cream
    East coast or west coast
I've only ever been to the East Coast. I'd rather live on the East Coast, despite the weather though. If I had to move out of the Midwest, that's where I'd go.

So there you have it. If anyone wants to do this tag, and I know it's been on YouTube as well, I'd be thrilled to read it! Have a lovely evening/morning/afternoon wherever you are!
